Pertaining To Shows: The Legendary J&H Productions Tape

Posted by on Thu, Nov 10, 2011 at 5:30 PM

I remember hearing this classic a few years ago, but it somehow slipped my mind since then. For some reason I woke up yesterday with quotes from it in my head: "Indoors and outdoors," "In the stadiums and the coliseums."

It took a few minutes to remember what it was called, but then I remembered and listened to it again and it made my head spin in the same exact way as it did when I first heard it. It feels to me perfectly like hearing imaginary voices.

Allegedly a man from Cincinnati, Ohio in the 1980s decided to make a tape to get himself involved with the organizational side of the production industry. The tape seems to be a stream-of-consciousness rant pertaining to shows indoor and outdoors from J&H Productions to the label industry that can be found "on the paper." See! It's in my brain! His voice has a wonderful poetic meter that will lull you into fury. Repeated listens suggested.

Here's a handy phrase tally, if you're interested:

The Oak Ridge Boys: 1
Cavalcade of Stars: 4
Cincinnati: 8
respond: 7
"as fors"/"as far as": 11
Warner Brothers: 5
"contract" or "contracts": 12
stadiums: 10
coliseums: 13
pertaining to: 32
J & H Productions: 33
