(El Corazón) For fans of black metal, Mayhem require no introduction. Not only did the Norwegian band practically define the genre, they operated at the epicenter of the notorious unpleasantness that made the scene a household name. Consequently, they were crucial subjects for the recent black-metal documentary Until the Light Takes Us, wherein drummer Hellhammer praises Emperor drummer Faust for murdering a homosexual. Really, asshole? For all your anti-Christian posturing, you're gonna buy into one of its most archaic and conservative mores? Take a cue from Gorgoroth, who were banned from Poland for pissing off the Catholic Church while singer Gaahl was blowing dudes on the side. Their homo-fronted Ad Majorem Sathanas Gloriam album is more terrifyingly blasphemous than your supposed classic De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas. BRIAN COOK
