Tonight in Music: School Shootings, Sioux City Pete, Scribes, Q Dot, Three Ninjas

School Shootings, Sioux City Pete

(Comet) There's nothing pretty about School Shootings. From the un-PC band name that summons "Jeremy"-esque visuals to the raw-as-hell, sloppy production that showcases their three-chord blasts of punk-rock simplicity, School Shootings are all fury and no fluff. Vocalist Amanda Prince shreds her voice raw while Stephen, John, and Seth provide the soundtrack to her onstage destruction. Drummer Peter Phillips (aka Sioux City Pete) will be a busy dude tonight, as he's not only behind the kit, leading these punks through a sweat-drenched set, but will also be opening the show with his own brand of blues-tinged, rock-and-roll righteousness. (White Rabbit) Wait, White Rabbit is booking hiphop now? Good call, person that makes the calls. Nectar could use some competition in the Center of the Universe, as Fremont refers to itself, now that Melissa "Meli" Darby has moved to the Crocodile and the place is less focused on that genre. And if you're gonna start booking hiphop, the upstanding, up-and-coming Scribes is a fine place to start. GRANT BRISSEY
