• Mexican Summer

Okay, that isn't exactly news. Singer/guitarist Tim Cohen and band mates are always on the move. They're just not the kind of guys who like to sit around spinning their wheels, one of many similarities between them and their Bay Area associates in Thee Oh Sees, Sonny & the Sunsets, and the Skygreen Leopards (to say nothing of the solo projects to flow from those outfits).

After releasing 2010's Play It Strange (In the Red) and the Secret Walls EP (Sacred Bones), the Fresh & Onlys have signed to Mexican Summer and are at work on their fourth LP with engineer Phil Manley (Wooden Shjips, Moon Duo).

Bass player Shayde Sartin tells Spin, "It’s definitely going to be a very different-sounding record than anything we've done in the past. It's far more dynamic and vivid, with a lot of pop and melancholy in there. But all the idiosyncrasies—our sense of humor and awkwardness and un-coolness—are still there."
