Kithkin
Okay, this was fucking hard. This is the last installment of the "12 Bands of 2012" series and with so many exciting things happening this year (new bands, new albums, killer shows), it's been incredibly difficult to trim the list down to 12 artists. But here it is, the last band on this list: Kithkin! They're weird. They're fun. They're a bit over the top with their nature-loving urban tribe vibe (check out the "press release" they recently sent me after I recently said something about them making music with rocks and twigs), but their rhythmic jams sound like what I would imagine it would sound like if Wild Orchid Children and Of Montreal started a drum circle around a big bonfire in the woods with Justin Warfield of She Wants Revenge. And it wasn't until hearing Kithkin that I realized I would like something that sounded like that. Who knew?
Kithkin just released their debut studio EP, Takers & Leavers, and while their website is currently under construction, in the meantime they have a real neat monster guy on the page, who follows your cursor with his eyes.
You can stream the Takers & Leavers EP here.
