I Flew Out of SeaTac This Morning a Not a Single Local Rockstar Talked To Me

Posted by on Thu, Feb 2, 2012 at 12:51 PM

Jerry Cantrell didn't tell me I couldn't smoke. Ben Gibbard didn't tell me to say something if I saw something. Sir Mix-a-Lot was M.I.A.

All I heard was smooth jazz on my way to the terminal.

Boooooring.

Grant's right: "Seattle is a city of music, but you'd be hard-pressed to know it by visiting the airport."

(The funny thing is, I'm on my way to Nashville, another city that claims to be "Music City." I'll soon find out if their airport fairs any better.)

Maybe that's because if rock or hip-hop was blaring out of the speakers at the airport people would tear the place apart trying to get it to stop. I'm not a fan of smooth jazz, but air travel is stressful enough without having to listen to someone's forced playlist. I vote for silence, please.

Oh, and there's almost no good music from Seattle in the first place.

Head & The Heart was blaring at the TSA checkpoint yesterday morning. I'm 100% serious. It was pretty barftastic.

When I was at the airport for that live music event I didn't hear any of the rockstar announcements either.
