Helms Alee - "8/16"

Are Helms Alee “post-grunge”? Does such a genre even exist?

I've seen the tag applied to the band online, so it's debatable. On the one hand—it’s a regrettably dismissive genre tag for such a bold, creative group. But there’s no denying the band is a part of a distinct Northwest lineage, so perhaps the shoe fits. Helms Alee definitely lived their formative years in the ‘90s, and their new video for “8/16” is a pretty amazing and hilarious homage to the music of their youth.

LOVE IT.

"Not boring" is the only genre tag I can come up with for this bad ass new Seattle music though.

Between Helms Alee, Brokaw, and Sandrider, heavy music is making a strong statement in Seattle again!
