Influential slowcore group Codeine are reuniting to play 19 dates around the world, including opening night at Sunset Tavern April 9 and at Triple Door July 9 and 10. The tour comes on the heels of a big reissue campaign of Codeine's back catalog by the Numero Group label on May 22, on vinyl and a 1,000-run CD box set, with bonus tracks augmenting each release. The morosely majestic band split in 1994 after recording two albums (Frigid Stars and The White Birch) and an EP, Barely Real (Sub Pop put out the latter two releases). (Codeine guitarist drummer Chris Brokaw, by the way, now lives in Seattle and plays in the Catamites Trio with Stephen O'Malley and Randall Dunn; next show is Sun. March 4 at Black Lodge.)
