Segal wrote about THIS kid yesterday...which got me thinking about kids who can outplay, or at least compete with adult players, so, of course, I was reminded about li'l Larry Collins, from the Collins Kids.
The brother/sister duo were playing rock and roll, bop, rockabilly, or whatever you wanna call it, for LA's Town Hall Party country review starting in 1954. If you're keeping track, that's kinda like light years before Elvis' crossover. Tho' obviously steeped in R&B they were a bit ahead of the curve, however, as kids they were perhaps considered something novel, and ended up a footnote. Too bad. At the time Larry was a lit firecracker; I love to watch him jump/dance or whatever you wanna call his gettin' busy...oh yeah, DIG THAT GUITAR TONE!!
