Today's Music News: Oneothrix Point Never, Thermals, and Brother Ali Celebrate Rainy Dawg's Birthday, Most Pirated Artists Infographic, New Craft Spells

Rainy Dawg Radio's Birthday: U.W.'s student-run online radio station (full disclosure, I was a DJ there all 4 years of my undergraduate education) Rainy Dawg Radio usually does a birthday show every year (you may remember John Darnielle of the Mountain Goats playing a solo gig last year). This time around, they're celebrating with a 3 day music festival, and the headliners are Oneohtrix Point Never (April 10th), the Thermals (April 11th) and Brother Ali (April 12th) with local openers TBA. So get on that.

Not Breaking Stuff for Charity: When I read the headline "Limp Bizkit to Break Stuff for Cash Money" I assumed it meant Fred Durst was doing some kind of charity demolition derby, where hopefully he destroys himself and his bandmates in the process. Turns out, the band actually signed to Lil Wayne's record label.

Musician Who Rips Off Morrissey Thinks Smiths Should Not Reform: Have you ever listened the Drums? If you have, you won't be surprised by Jonathan Pierce's stance on a Smiths reunion.

New Craft Spells: The Seattle (by-way-of-Stockton, CA) group has a new EP due out in May, but they've got one song you can listen to now, and I'ma hook you up:

Frankie Avalon Never Had to Deal With This Shit: Teeny popper Justin Beiber (or his team of handlers) is suing a company that made a mobile app/game called "Joustin Beaver."

He's Back: Tormented and maligned rapper DMX had a comeback of sorts in NYC last night.

Most Pirated Artists 2007-2010: Waste a few hours looking for your favorite band in this infographic of musicians, who probably don't have enough money to feed or bathe themselves because of you.

Cranberries' Tiny Desk Concert: Yesterday I had a full-blown argument with a cashier at Trader Joe's about Linger being the better Cranberries song over Zombie. I know Zombie rocks and is about the Troubles, but has he even listened to the lyrics of Linger before? I'll take heart over head any day. Anyway, the band played both songs for an NPR Tiny Desk concert.

I Promise to Shut Up About Screaming Females for a While: I know I write about 'em about them a lot, but they've got a new video! And they're coming to the Rendezvous on April 18th! See the video after the jump, which starts with innocuous kittens before getting a lot weirder/bloodier.

'Linger' all day every day. 'Zombie' is not a compelling song at all.

THANK YOU. also, oddly enough, it was hearing Ace of Base's "the Sign" that provoked the conversation.

"Zombie" by The Cranberries is unintentionally very funny.
