Did Anyone See the Shins on SNL?

Posted by on Tue, Mar 13, 2012 at 9:26 AM

If you're like me, you don't even know who most of the SNL cast are anymore, let alone watch the show on any kind of regular basis. But this last week, at least the Shins got to play a couple of songs off their upcoming Port of Morrow and we can just watch those clips real quick without having to suffer through the sketches. First up is the album's lead single "Simple Song," then watch "It's Only Life" below the jump, and then get back to work!

i really feel like the few years its been since the shins were coating everything in site has been refreshing. these songs seem smarter, but are still catchy and appropriately saccharine. i am super stoked to have them back.

why is James Mercer even calling this band the Shins? the other dudes are gone (fired), and the music bears little resemblance to the sound that fans originally flocked to. Change your direction, fine, but at least make it worth our while. Go back to the acoustic, man, the electric doesn't suit you.
