Yellingham, since its inception a few years ago, has done a remarkable job in importing musical acts from the NW into Bellingham for a full weekend of good feelings. You know what also does a great job at that? Ladyfest Bellingham (I'll write about this later). I'm so stoked about Yellingham this year because I get to hang out with friends who I don't see so often enough and watch them play music. Every time there's a "DIY" festivals, I'm always reminded of how they are such great summits of your current and future friends!
If you're not doing anything in the town you reside in the NW on the weekend of April 13th, you should try to trek up to this. If you're feeling more inclined to stay where you are and instead go to a show at a space that you normally attend, push yourself to hop out of town (provided you have transportation) and go see as many of these 50 musical acts of varying genres shred. It's the best opportunity to see a slough of underrepresented NW music and another great opportunity to meet some beautiful people.
Full disclosure: I'm playing my compositions at Yellingham. Guess which band name I am (hint: whatever)!
