And while I'm at it, here's one of my favorite goth-rock tracks from the '80s. I used to play it from time to time at KWCW (radio station at Whitman College*):

"Kiss Kiss Bang Bang" comes from the Sire Records EP Batastrophe (due to the confusing cover art, I briefly thought their full name was Specimen Batastrophe).

It would be easy to ridicule Specimen if one was to approach them from the point of view of a serious music critic, but to take that stance would be to completely miss the point. There was nothing profound or deeply artistic about Specimen, they were purely and simply a goth party band who made an artform out of campy tackiness with androgynous sexuality set to overdrive.
