Tanlines' Mixed Emotions

Posted by on Tue, Apr 17, 2012 at 12:52 PM

Brooklyn duo Tanlines' debut album Mixed Emotions is an instant day brightener. The ’80s nostalgia is thick, channeling afrobeat influences via Paul Simon along with the synth-spirations from any number of New Wavers. Despite the scores of other acts pumping through this musical vein, Eric Emm's incredibly (almost blushingly) earnest vocal content and delivery, along with an acute clarity in production (no over-gauzy reverb abuse here) set this album apart from the rest.

Tanlines play the brand-spanking-new Barboza next week (April 24th) with Rewards and USF.

See the video for "All of Me" after the jump.
