Some asshole stole this poor college student's bass guitar and he needs to get it back posthaste in order to fulfill his course work. Keep an eye out, if you could.

I don't know if the taker qualifies as an "asshole" if the student was a "dummy" and left his bass on the corner. IMO

alert the pawn shops, alert music stores, troll craigslist.

they may keep it, in which case you're fucked. but theives try to turn it into cash typically, so figure out where & how.

@4 How would I know that any thing (regardless of expense) that was left in the street/on the sidewalk was left there by mistake?? I've found a myriad of things in this manner, and have returned none of them....from clothes to couches and every thing in between. Some of these items can even be said to be expensive...I don't think it makes me an asshole.
I do think that automatically calling people assholes before you know their side of the story (any story), actually relegates you to asshole status yourself. Asshole.

I think someone was doing this kid a favor by removing that fucking eye-cancer bass from his life. Maybe replace it with an instrument that doesn't sound like boiling whale semen, with the correct number of strings. Unless his 'coursework' involves pretending to be in the DMB, I call bullshit.
