A Crazy Motherfucker Named Ice Cube

Posted by on Fri, Jun 15, 2012 at 11:37 AM

Born on this day in 1969.

UPDATE: A crucial recent entry into the Ice Cube canon, to which I was alerted by commenter Cosby.

Ice Cube's Coors commercials are a new career nadir. Worse than Korn covering your music and 'Ghosts Of Mars' combined.

Ice Cube's 'War & Peace'-era apocalyptic Abraham Lincoln / medicine man look is eerily similar to steampunk fashion. Maybe he was really far ahead of his time in the field of poorly thought out lifestyle choices.

too true. the video for Mack 10's "Only In California" with Snoop and Cube (during the height of the Don Mega era) is crazily steampunk.

Cube is about irony this year, he popped up in 21 Jump Street as a police captain and Oren Moverman's Rampart as an IA officer investigating Woody Harrelson's corrupt cop (Jump Street uses "Straight Outta Compton" in the flashback opener).

the coors light ads do bring me a little hope: the latest one with cube and deebo has no music. A black ad that not only abstains from a supaFonkay bassline, but music altogether. How far we've come!

people have been bashing Cube for selling out for longer than they accepted him as genuine. Shaddup.
