Kingdom of the Holy Sun @ Lo-Fi Sat. July 7

I somehow left the Seattle band Kingdom of the Holy Sun out of this week’s Up & Coming blurb on the Lo-Fi Performance Gallery show featuring Red Liquid, Black Nite Crash, and Gibraltar. Apologies! Kingdom of the Holy Sun recently came to my attention and then proceeded pushed some of my favorite buttons—those being psych-rock and shoegaze buttons. On their four-song Pharmacokinetics EP, they seem like nature-lovin’ mystical types with their hearts and effects pedals in the right places. Their songs unspool with a languid splendor that has its DNA in the Doors’ “The End” and some of Brian Jonestown Massacre’s more opiated moments. All this and they’re big in Madrid, Spain, too.

Bask in Kingdom of the Holy Sun’s laid-back radiance Saturday night at Lo-Fi.
