Three Signs That Musicians Are Pandering Too Hard

Posted by on Sun, Jul 22, 2012 at 4:27 PM

* They say the name of the city in which they’re performing every five minutes.

* They ask variations on the question, "Any weed-smokers in the house?"

* They compliment the crowd’s physical beauty.

This has been happening a lot at Capitol Hill Block Party. Come on, people, tone it down a bit.

Re: Name of the City. At least not in Seattle. I think audience members in your city are mostly confident the artist knows where they are.

Repeating the name of the city is necessary nowhere, but it's even less necessary where you are, is what I'm saying.

I wouldn't be confident that an artist knows in which city they are performing.

Avtar @3 - I hate that one! I'd rather the artist just say "would you all please scream loudly".

Most hated: Give yourselves a round of applause!

Appropriate response: "Go fuck yourself" then look find a better show.

I always like asking if anyone is from Miami.

of course I have no follow-through if someone says yes.
