Whatcha Listenin' to, Mars Rover?

Posted by on Sun, Aug 5, 2012 at 11:09 PM

USA just won the gold medal in landing on mars! Cool job, NASA! What do you think that little rover is listening to up there?

Misfits - "Teenagers From Mars"
Sparks - "I Married A Martian"
T. Rex - "Ballrooms Of Mars"
David Bowie - "Life On Mars?"

What else? I don't want to stoop to 30 Second to Mars, The Mars Volta, Bruno Mars, or Ben Harper's Live From Mars...but I will.

Well, there's "Rocket Man", but perhaps that's too easy.

Congratulations, of course, to NASA/JPL, the MSL team, and that adorable Curiosity rover.

The real key is to develop a playlist for Jupiter, because that sucker's next. And all it has now is "Drops Of Jupiter" by Train. Therefore, any band jumping on the Jupiter bandwagon now is first in line for some trickle down fame when we finally get there.

@8 - Mozart's 41st symphony, which is nicknamed "Jupiter Symphony?" does that count?

The most appropriate song, of course, would be Hawkwind's "Uncle Sam's On Mars".

@8: TRAIN! ACK! You're so right. That CANNOT be on the Jupiter landing playlist. Or I will burn down the nursing home I'll be living in when we get up there.
