Mike Jaworski (who's also in Virgin Islands and the Cops) has been booking shows at the Sunset for almost six years—he announced today that he's stepping down at the venue's booker.
He wrote, via e-mail:
It's been a great run and I feel blessed to have worked with so many wonderful people and to have accomplished so many amazing things. I have an immense amount of gratitude for my time at The Sunset and I'm excited to take the rich experience it's given me on to my next adventure in life.
My good friend Greg Garcia, booker at The Tractor, will be taking over for me in the transition. Greg is still booking at The Tractor while helping out The Sunset until they find a new booker. The shows I've already booked are still confirmed and Greg will be handling all correspondence going forward. Please contact Greg at booking@sunsettavern.com regarding any future booking needs at The Sunset.
Best of luck to you on your future projects, Mr. Jaworski!
Virgin Islands will be opening for Desaparecidos this Saturday at the Showbox at the Market and the Cops play the Sunset on August 31 with Kinski and Bali Girls. Go give him a high five for his years of bringing the rock and roll to Ballard.
