Shiny Beast RIP Mike Carden

Posted by on Thu, Sep 6, 2012 at 11:57 AM

An old friend of mine, Mike Carden, sadly and suddenly passed away this April; a lifetime ago he sang/screamed for a group called Shiny Beast. The tracks he was involved with were issued on a 7" EP/CDEP on Boner, it opened with this track, "Distro." Fucking brutal. Anyway, here are a couple tracks with Mike singing...er, screaming. He was otherwise the quietest and most reserved person I've ever known. RIP Mike Carden.

Shiny Beast, of course, were an instrumental three piece prog/math rock, with Brian Walsby, Kim Walker, and David Sullivan. Sullivan y'all prolly know via the popular group Red Fang. Walsby has been a significant drummer since he moved to NC in the '80s and he also produces the scene critical zine, Manchild.
