Death Angel, Testament, and Anthrax @ Showbox Market

Posted by on Thu, Sep 20, 2012 at 2:18 PM

I feel so pathetic today. I wanted to go see the Anthrax show last night, but I couldn't afford thirty bucks. In 1989 I would have paid $130 to this lineup. I would have had to do a shit ton of babysitting and lawn mowing, but dammit, I would have found a way.

Question 1. Can the lead singer of Death Angel still scream like he used to—like this, at the 2:25 mark?

More, with pictures by KT Wright, after the jump!

Question 2. Does Testament still kinda sound like early Metallica?

Missed Death Angel (7:30 set time) and half of Testament (8:30 set time). That was ridiculous. What's it take to get venues to post set-times so people can make an educated guess when to show up. Also, the sound for Testament was really bad, slightly better for Anthrax. Don't know if was a house engineer or if the bands had their own sound guy, but whoever decided that the drums should be louder than everything else combined needs to have their hearing checked. When you can't hear the guitars over the double-kick and thrumming bass guitar frequencies, something is seriously wrong.

Testament was good, but Anthrax was really good. Joey was on fire and having a lot of fun on stage. Dude knows how to work a crowd.

@2: yes, that's all very nice, but I'm sure what everybody is really wondering is, did you get caught in a mosh?
