Billie Joe Throws a Hissy Fit: "I'm Not Fucking Justin Bieber, You Motherfuckers!"

Posted by on Sat, Sep 22, 2012 at 2:47 PM

Green Day's Billie Joe didn't like it when the band's set was cut short at the I Heart Radio festival in Vegas last night:

GUITAR SMASH! PUNK ROCK!

Of course, if you were Justin Bieber, they wouldn't have cut your set short because that kid makes hundreds of millions of billions of dollars. AND! If you were so fucking punk rock, you wouldn't be playing a radio music festival with Taylor Swift, Brad Paisley, Usher, in the first place, but I digress.

Out of all of the arguments I've read about this, yours is the best, Megan.

Dude should be ashamed of himself on many levels.

my band played a basement in France once. we were last on a six band bill. the local bands all played hour-long sets. the show ran over schedule, and by the time it was our turn to play, it was past curfew. we played three-and-a-half songs before the cops shut off the power. we finished the last song with just drums. despite the situation being beyond our control, we had kids from the audience harass us for cutting the set short, as if it was our fault. never mind that ALL THE POWER WENT OUT.

now imagine Green Day playing a huge festival. this is a band that still sells millions of records (but also, to their credit, still do secret shows at small punk venues like Red 7 in Austin), and their 45 minute set gets cut to 25 minutes because of the festival's mismanagement. the audience has no idea the festival fucked up. the GD fans just assume they shelled out a bunch of money on tickets to see 25 minutes worth of music, which ultimately reflects poorly on the band.

i honestly don't give two shits about Green Day, but fuck, i would've been pissed and called out the folks running the festival over the microphone too.

As a young lady I went to see the Pinhead Gunpowder. A friend and I were poking a bit of fun at GD's very recent fame - saying they would be in teen magazines that featured locker posters - and their roadie, who was sitting near us, became very agitated about our fortune telling, glared at us, harrumphed, and stormed off. I always wonder what he thinks now, about 20 years on.
