I <3 Steven Stills

Not to get all POLITICAL on y'all, and I usually kinda hate it when rock and roll peeps get all opinionated, but Steven Stills' Obama endorsement in the current Rolling Stone is quite entertaining.

With only a few days left, there is very little opportunity for nuance, so I will just tell you from my gut. I never in my lifetime thought I would see a creepier politician than Richard Nixon, but in the last few days, it became clear that Willard Mitt Romney is really, really creepy. Icky creepy, as my granddaughter would put it.

Uh, his songwriting is better than his attempts at punditry, OBVS, but still this bit made me smile.

Steven Stills, if you don't know, was a '60s heavy, a big time player, he was a member of the Buffalo Springfield, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, a solo performer, and fronted Manassas; of all his groups Manassas has always been my fave.

For what it's worth, I heart Stills too. Doesn't get enough respect these days, probably due to his not being Neil Young, and hanging around Crosby so much. But he was once the shit.

"For what it's worth" ZING! Nice one.

Yeah, Neil gets the godhead nods now, even tho Stills wrote the HUGEST hit for the Springfield. Until Young's first LP he was regarded just one of the Springfield. There are some great Still demo bootlegs around also, worth finding...a friend saw Manassas circa the first LP and he regarded it as one of the best shows ever. Uh...which is something considering he grew up in the South Bay and saw EVERYONE that played from 1966 - 1973.
