Tay Walker - "Karma"

Last Sunday at the Crocodile, The Internet's neo-neo-soul revivalism would've made Kedar Massenburg proud. The real revelation was Syd Tha Kid and Matt Martians' ace band, which included this young man on the keys and vocals. His performance of this, his solo single, was unquestionably a highlight of the night. While some of the elements of the late 90's are enjoying a comeback via the fashion, art and music of the Tumblr youth set, it might be a new generation's thoughtful take on the Brown Sugar era that is most encouraging to me. Good to know that neo-soul isn't just for the "grown & sexy" (read: 30 to 40+ year olds) anymore.
