Gabriel Mintz - "Smunk"

Posted by on Fri, Nov 23, 2012 at 3:07 PM

Seattle guitarist/vocalist Gabriel Mintz has an artful new video—shot by Amelia Gydé—for his song "Smunk" (B-side of the In Safety 7" on Fin Records). Mixed by the estimable Steve Fisk, "Smunk" is hazy psych pop that sounds like Tame Impala in a very pensive mood—which is quite a good thing. And it's always nice to hear prominent hand percussion in a psych context. I'd play it in a DJ set.

Mintz next performs Sun. Nov. 25 at the Tractor with Sons of Warren Oates, the Crying Shame, and Jon Pontrello. A limited number of the In Safety 7" will be available at the show.
