The Njena Redd Foxx Post

Running across a new one from on-the-bubble rap chick Redd Foxx reminded me that I haven't really posted about her here yet. First, that new one, called "Dominos":

Njena is pretty raw, not like Angel Haze lyrical, but demonstrating a gift for snotty shit-talk and shade-throwing that the game always needs—especially seeing as the seapunk-as-she-wannabe Azealia Banks has already made it to the pretentious I'm-not-a-rapper stage (the speed of hype—what used to take 3 albums now takes 1-2 mixtapes/EP's or 8 months, whichever comes first).

Anyway, it's pretty criminal that I never posted the video for Zebra Katz & Njena's damn near year-old "Ima Read"—apparently now a vogue classic and underground club hit—so I'll rectify that posthaste:

The month-or-so-old remix is no punk either, with the additions of extra-rare appearances from Gangsta Boo and the trademark creepy whisper of Tricky(!); peep that after the thang.

The speed of hype, continued: Azealia Banks already has her own cosmetics line.
