· Folks who stopped by the Mandarin Gate in the International District on Thanksgiving night were treated to a karaoke rendition of "Stairway to Heaven." The man who signed up for the ambitious number mostly just stood on the stage, occasionally saying, "I'm really drunk, y'all." We prefer his version to the original.

· Seattle psych-rock sextet Midday Veil have been accepted into 2013's South by Southwest festival. It's about freakin' time. Speaking of Midday Veil, their guitarist, Timm Mason, is now a full-fledged member of 2012 Stranger Genius Award contenders Master Musicians of Bukkake. Mason—who plays bass and synthesizer with MMOB—is being fitted for his medieval monk's robe as we type.

· Last week, Andrew "getting weirder by the second" W.K. told the internet that he had been invited to be a cultural ambassador to the Middle East, saying, "This is a tremendous invitation. I'm very thankful to the Department of State for giving me the opportunity... I feel very privileged and humbled by the chance to represent the United States of America and show the good people of Bahrain the power of positive partying. I can hardly wait for this adventure!" This week, however, the Huffington Post reported that a spokesperson for the State Department announced the invitation had been rescinded, calling it "a mistake and not appropriate." Aww, party on, Andrew.
