Name This Punk Group From the Gong Show!

Posted by on Wed, Dec 12, 2012 at 1:45 PM

For TV repurposing this group were called Static Cling, but they were, in fact, a REAL punk band. Uh...well, kinda. Betcha can't guess who they really were?!?

Holy crap they're kinda hilarious and really good; damn Ms. Mable for gonging these boys.

True identity after the hump!

Static Cling were, in fact, Huntington Beach's, the Klan! A "party band" group made up of Simpletones member's and a couple friends who happened to record a cover of the Seeds' "Pushin' Too Hard" for the Posh Boy label. Oh, that track also ended upon a Rodney On The Roq compilation. The flip, "Cover Girls" is pretty good too. Copies are hard to find, only 100 original 45 were pressed.

Yeah, The Klan was very short lived. I have a copy of the original posh boy record. I even got into tape trade and gotten a hold of a rehearsal tape. To bad they never put anything out, this song was not on it. If you like the Klan, TKO records released a Vicious Circle Practice Tape LP. They cover a few Klan songs and feature a Member on either bass or guitar. Vicious Circle was featured Jack Grisham and Todd Barnes of TSOL. Vicious Circle also was more known for thier followers, who went by the same name as the band and engaged in wanton punk rock gangsterism.
