Built to Spill Is Playing Every NW City Except Seattle

Posted by on Mon, Jan 7, 2013 at 10:09 AM

Want to see Built to Spill next month? Consider a mini road trip—the band will be in the road for about two weeks, hitting 10 Northwest cities, none of them Seattle.

Built to Spill's upcoming tour dates are as follows:

Jan 31 Portland, OR Doug Fir Lounge
Feb 1 Portland, OR Doug Fir Lounge
Feb 2 Bellingham, WA Wild Buffalo
Feb 5 Victoria, BC Sugar Nightclub
Feb 6 Vancouver, BC Rickshaw Theatre
Feb 8 Pullman, WA Bell Tower
Feb 9 Spokane, WA Bing Crosby Theater
Feb 10 La Grande, OR Big Green Barn
Feb 11 Boise, ID Neurolux
Feb 12 Boise, ID The Crux

The band also has a new line-up: Steve Gere and Jason Albertini will play drums and bass, respectively, replacing Scott Plouf and Brett Nelson (the press release states the split was "completely amicable").

Given how many times they have played Seattle, it's only fair.

I don't see Tacoma or Olympia on that list, either. (I'd mention Everett, too, except nobody ever plays in Everett, ever. Except Green Day, once, I think.)

Anyway, have Scott Plouf and Brett Nelson been in the band continuously since they joined? If so, then it's a whole different animal. I know Martch said every record would have a different lineup back when he launched this thing 20 years ago, but Plouf and Nelson have been there since 94, IIRC, even if they had other additional and temporary musicians.
