World wandering multilingual mysticist and hypnotic live act Devendra Banhart signed to Nonesuch records last month and announced that his new album will be released March 12th. The third track "FÜr Hildegard von Bingen", off the album to be titled Mala, can be downloaded with a pre-order over at Nonesuch records.
Those familiar with his music will note that there is a bit of an electronic sound to this new track, named after a 12th century German mystic composer/theologian. According to the Nonesuch website Devandra and guitarist Noah Geogeson put most of the music together on an old tascam recorder they found at a pawn shop. Sounds great to me so far.
For those wishing to get more familiar wbefore March, may I recommend his video for "Foolin'" off the critically acclaimed What Will Be album, and "SeaHorse" off my personal favorite Smoky Rolls Down Thunder Canyon.
