UNSTOPPABLE DEATH MACHINES, MTNS, HAUNTED HORSES, WEED
Brooklyn-based brother duo Unstoppable Death Machines (Mike and Billy Tucci) are an industrial-metal dance party—sort of like if Andrew W.K. bro'd-out some Godflesh songs over a gauze of gristly punk. Their songs are genre-hopping blasts of deep riffs and electronic beats to mosh and/or bleed to. Party tip: Also playing this night are Seattle noise-rock titans Haunted Horses, Mtns, and Weed, a drone-metal band from Bainbridge Island, not the Vancouver indie-rock band of the same name. Black Lodge, 9 pm.
SATURDAY 1/12
MOUNT EERIE, ASHLEY ERIKSSON, THOUSANDS
Heartland—a new and necessary art gallery located in the University District providing a welcome outlet for arts in the neighborhood—is throwing its first benefit. According to one of its directors, Heartland is modeled off of "dreams and everyone involved being a participant in whatever degree to spaces that we've all experienced or wanted to be a part of." If that mission statement reminds you of the Anacortes space Department of Safety, it's appropriate that headlining the night is Mount Eerie.
