King Celebration!

Posted by on Mon, Jan 21, 2013 at 6:05 PM

Today is the day of the greatest, and we should all make a tradition of watching this 1986 video featuring El DeBarge, Whitney Houston, Stacy Lattisaw, Lisa Lisa with Full Force, Teena Marie, Menudo, Stephanie Mills, New Edition, James "J.T." Taylor, Kurtis Blow, The Fat Boys, Grandmaster Melle Mel, Run-DMC and Whodini. Seeing as I haven't watched this since last year, it's even more poignant now to see Whitney, as a disembodied figure, totally stealing the show from the second loudest thing in the toom (El Debarge's leopard print pimp swag). I'd also like to take this time to big up music industry vet Don Mizell (yes relation), who had a hand in the campaign to make the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday into a national holiday. Click that link and read some about it. Peace and Love, y'all.
