How Should I Listen to Unknown Mortal Orchestra's New Album?

Unknown Mortal Orchestra's second album, II, is about to be released on Jagjaguwar on February 4. I liked their last one a lot. In my column this week, online commenters got really really pissed that I would listen to such high and mighty musical genius as King Crimson on a lowly iPod on the bus. I hadn't expended a great deal of thought on how I was "supposed to" listen to music, but now I am thinking about it. UMO are just regular young folks making music in the now times. So I ask you:

I don't know anything about this particular band, but I try to never let my first listen to anything be on computer speakers or earbuds. I will wait for the vinyl to come even when all my friends are talking about the album, and if/when I absolutely have to cave, my first listen will be at home on good headphones or in my car on a long drive.

I'm also no fun ever.

Acid, bus, LP, no headphones. Just stare at that shit til you really REALLY hear it. You know?
