RE: Please Don't, Black Flag

Posted by on Tue, Jan 29, 2013 at 1:43 PM

Obviously Black Flag is a most sacred cow and no one who holds them in any regard prolly, really, wants to hear a new record. I certainly don't. But then I understand THE WAR CAME AND WENT, it's over, the PUNK ROCKS LOST! Will it MATTER?! NO. This is an obvious cash what; this ain't the first time sacred cows have been resurrected. Uh, the Sex Pistols, the Germs and even the Stooges have done it. So why should the cash grab of a "NEW" Black Flag be a shock? (sigh) Right, well if you are feeling conflicted you can always turn to "punk ethos" for resolution: DON'T BUY THE RECORD and DON'T GO SEE 'EM PLAY. It's a cash in, right?! Then don't give 'em your cash. Thing is...did ANYONE expect anything different from Ginn? I'm surprised it took this long.

Here, this'll help y'all feel better: Hank taking over a Black Flag interview and making a point about what "it" once was about, - moving forward, being true to yourself and (ahem) thinking, etc. He really rakes this poor, earnest kid over the "fuck fucking MRR" coals.

I love Henry, his spoken word shows are awesome. The fact that he's not involved in the reunion makes me very happy. Thanks for the great find!

Can't understand why you guys even care about this. The stranger featured Nel Carter on the cover the week Joe Strummer died. Cash grab...whatever. Let the guys besides Ginn make a little extra cash in their old age. It's not like they are gonna sellout the paramount. Stick to what you know, new mediocre bands. Stranger has zero punk rock credibility.

Seriously, what does the stranger care if the pre Rollins Black Flag tours and makes a little cash for the other guys besides Ginn? The Stranger has zero credibility on punk. The Stranger made the choice to feature Nell Carter on the cover the week Joe Strummer died. Go back to writing about mediocre indy rock and hipster hangouts. It is not like these guys are gonna "grab much cash" anyhow. They aren't playing the Paramount for godssake!
