FUCK YES!! Now this is the kinda fuzz driven load of, "whaa? IZZAT A TRAIN COMIN THIS'A WAY?!?!" that I seem to really, really NEED! This group, the Omens, were from Hammond, Indiana, which is, like, almost a Chicago suburb.

The Omens recorded "Searching" in 1966 "in the living room of a second floor apartment in East Chicago where some guy had an Ampex reel to reel. That recording is mono, one track, one take, no overdubs." Uh. So the cacophony of "Searching" was recorded all in ONE FUCKING TAKE, in the living room of "some guy's" second floor apartment?! Shit, man.

Dig more details of the Omens' story over at Garage Hangover!

Not correct. That recording was just test recording. It was erased shortly thereafter and the released version was recorded after a few takes at Onederful studios in Chicago.
