Lots of big news from the Midday Veil camp. First, the Seattle avant-rock sextet today debuted their phantasmagorical, Steven Miller-directed 12-minute video for “Great Cold of the Night,” the most dramatic song from their forthcoming cosmic-rock full-length, The Current, which was produced by Randall Dunn at Avast! Recording Co. Watch it thrice for maximum effect. It features the best bizarre-cake-orgy scene you'll likely ever see.
Midday Veil’s Translinguistic Other label will issue The Current on LP, CD, and ltd.-ed., tour-only cassette sometime in the spring. The record boasts a striking cover by the great Kentucky artist Robert Beatty. You can order it here.
Finally, Midday Veil start their national tour Feb. 28 at Chop Suey; it includes dates at SXSW, 35 Denton, and LA Psych Fest (full itinerary after the jump). Further down the line, a European tour with Expo ’70 is in the works for the fall.
