No Firearms/Sloopersize These

All reports indicate that the god Rakim killed it last night at Neumos. There was a lot of "I can die happy now" type comments flying around the internets. Much as I love Rakim, I had a Lil Woody's, met some nice folks whilst playing pinball at John John's (NO FIREARMS), and walked home. On the way I stopped by KEXP to steal Girl Scout Cookies from the food table and said hi to DJ Riz, because he's the triple OG awesome uncle soul flower number one.

Last night at the Red Bull Thre3Style Seattle edition, former 206 mainstay DJ Scene took the cake. See DJ Scene beatbox around the 5:00 mark in this video (that, I'd like to note, is full of classic Seatown characters)! Can we please bring back the "How Was It?" videos??

Today, Grynch released his "Mister Rogers Remix" featuring LA's Bambu and Atmosphere's Slug. Namedropped: Applebee's, Ruby Tuesday's, Paseo, The Sloop. I guess after the V-O-L-V-O man got a taste of corporate money, he never looked back.

Speaking of Ballard, Fin Records (who have been going heavy into the local hiphop scene ever since linking up with J.Pinder) has partnered up with Nissim (formerly known as D.Black) and his nonprofit OEMCo. A full length is coming, but today Nissim released the free mixtape Miracle Music:

Speaking of new music: here's a new single from Seattle-based rapper/producer Spekulation (revealed to be the Bitter Barista, which unfortunately got the dude shitcanned)—this features Seattle's soulful okanomodé. The Good Sin, sort of Seattle's answer to Phonte, minus the singing, has as of late been dropping joints steadily under the tag FallBackSeasonhere's the latest, featuring Blakk Soul.
