Kanye, ASAP Rocky & Danny Brown Respond To MTV's Hottest MC List

Posted by on Wed, Mar 6, 2013 at 12:02 PM

Here's a generic ass post you can read on 12 other blogs right now, but this one is written by me:

MTV, in addition to producing quality reality television, has compiled a "Hottest MC" list every year since 2007—presumably it is the brainchild of veteran proliferator of hiphop Sway Calloway, who anchors the "Brain Trust" that decides who goes on the list. This list, along with the XXL magazine Top 10 Freshman list and the Jay-Z/Nas battle would all go on my own curated list, coming soon via an as-yet unnamed shady media conglomerate: The Top 10 Stupidest Thing Rappers and Their Fans Argue About. (Peace to Ego Trip for trolling.)

This year Kanye West didn't let his gazillions, hectic schedule, and pregnant girlfriend stop him from calling into a radio show to bitch about what's really on his mind: his low placement (#7) on the list. "They don't like Givenchy Kanye, they don't like Kanye in a kilt", he said, which is totally true and not wholly unreasonable, because Kanye in a kilt sucks. ASAP Rocky's bird ass also got ruffled by his placement on the list (#8), but the most compelling evidence he came with was other people's clothes and flows:

Everybody’s wearing diamonds, I’m the one who made glasses with the John Lennon shades with the glasses going on now. C’mon who brought gold teeth back? I’m just being honest. I’m the first artist that grew enough balls to say I listen to Geto Boys, Three 6 Mafia, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, N.W.A., and Wu-Tang at the same damn time, what! And I’m influenced by all of them. Who brought double-time back? Who was rapping like Bone? Nobody.

I dunno, Bone, maybe? This is a Tumblr generation's understanding of culture in general: if I reblogged it, I made it. Anyway, the only reason for anybody to write this generic-ass post for you silent square fucks on Line Out is to post up the response from Danny Brown, the only one out of these three who could be said to be doing it right. He made a song and proved once again that he's eating all of these tools. No disrespect, but come to think of it, if you look at his teeth, it kinda looks like he's actually eaten tools before—and that's what makes him the hottest MC.

I really don't want to hate ASAP but every time he opens his mouth, ffffuuuckkk. Shut it. Danny Brown is always a class act. Well... when it matters, at least.

I kinda don't give shit about anybody mentioned above (yet), but I'd just like to say that in my recent venture to the D that local station Hot 107.5 was reppin' Drake and Future hard.

That's my litmus, and so that's where I'm at.
