John Atkins Is Playing Barboza Tonight

Posted by on Thu, Mar 14, 2013 at 10:38 AM

John Atkins of 764-HERO, John Atkins of the Can't See, John Atkins of the Magic Magicians... I don't know what he'll be playing—maybe his own solo stuff, maybe a mixture of songs from all the bands he's ever been in (about 800 now, I think, right?). But given his inclination to write great tunes, it'll be worth checking out.

He's opening for local indie pop outfit Like Lions. Honestly, Like Lions aren't a band I'd usually listen to (Wilco is usually the only soft rock band I ever have any patience for), but their new album, All Be Fine, has surprising touches of both electronic and orchestral elements, and it sounds relaxing and lovely on a mild not-quite-spring day like today.

Tickets are $10, doors open at 8 pm.
