The Minus Five Write the Longest Song Ever About a Monkee

Posted by on Tue, Mar 26, 2013 at 11:40 AM

Local-ish rock band the Minus Five (led by Scott McCaughey) have penned an epic paean to former Monkees guitarist/vocalist Michael Nesmith, titled with utmost sincerity, "Michael Nesmith." It's nine-plus minutes of easygoing, cruise-control folk rock that's longer and way more palatable than Don McLean's "American Pie."

Nesmith plays Neptune Theatre Sat. March 30. Please note: Michael Nesmith is the composer of one of the greatest songs of all time, "The Door Into Summer." "Daily Nightly."

Actually "Door Into Summer" was written by Bill Martin with some help from Chip Douglas. It is one of the great songs though!
