Yesterday morning at Sub Pop my bleary eyes read one of the best emails that I've ever received. At first I thought it had to be a put on—a college student requesting that Nirvana record a personal message video to help her win a homecoming election. Even more perplexing, the candidate referred to Nirvana as her. A quick math assumption puts this person at negative-1-years-old when Kurt Cobain died. So, you know, perhaps it was just the kids being kids. And then it hit me, this is actually rather hilarious!

The entire message is full of gold. The video will present "great publicity" for the band, and Nirvana will featured alongside the likes of Slightly Stoopid and three (three!) famous NFL players. You really have to read the whole thing. She even was nice enough to include a sample script for Nirvana to read in the video:
It would simply be "What’s up Virginia Tech? This is Nirvana! Just wanted to wish you guys a Happy Homecoming Week and good luck at the game this Saturday. LETS GO HOKIES!"
Then we made a video, and of course we changed HOKIES to HOAGIES. I didn't send her my iPhone as the letter suggested (that seemed a little extreme). I simply texted the video as instructed:
Virginia Tech Loves Nirvana.
Success! The Nirvana video has been accepted. You can view it right here:
What will happen next? Who knows. I'd also like to take this time to tell the world that Megan Jasper hates hard boiled eggs.
