Seattle trio Night Beats have a druggy video for “The Seven Poison Wonders” to fling you headlong into the extended Labor Day weekend. It’s their most overtly psychedelic song to date, if memory serves. The song begins with a classically swaggering rhythm (think a modified "Taxman") and Danny Lee Blackwell’s sly falsetto singing accentuating the trebly/watery guitar riff. Right before the two-minute mark, Blackwell uncorks a 90-second solar-flare guitar freakout before things return to regularly scheduled programming. The track’s a bit over five minutes, but one wishes it were two or three times longer. "The Seven Poison Wonders" appears on Night Beats' forthcoming album, Sonic Bloom (out Sept. 24 on The Reverberation Appreciation Society).
