Okay, y'all, it's time for a little honesty: I pitched covering Tegan and Sara because of one song, and one song only: "Walking with a Ghost." Because thaaat is my jam. And I really believed (because I am straight ignorant about music but don't tell anyone) that was their one big hit. So I strolled up to the KeyArena right at two, all smug, thinking I could easily snag a seat. HOW WRONG I WAS. I proceeded to spend the next 20 minutes roaming around with a herd of similarly-confused people, wide-eyed and agog, catching songs from various darkened entrances into the stadium.
But seriously, how have I slept on this band for so long? They are amazing! So catchy! And heartfelt in a way that doesn't come across as prefabricated or annoying, but genuine and moving. I don't even listen to indie rock anymore and I was legitimately excited every time they dropped another intoxicating chorus, another hummable riff, another poetic lyric. Tegan and Sara: you have a new fan. Next time I'll get to the venue in time to actually sit down, or better yet, I'll be dancing with the other fans, front and center.
