In August, Wichita Recordings released a track from Cate Le Bon's upcoming album on which Perfume Genius appears. Now Woodsist has released a track from Kevin Morby's upcoming album on which Le Bon appears, and it's just as lovely (White Fence's Tim Presley also puts in an appearance on the record).
It should come as little surprise that the two LA residents will be touring together this fall. While Cate has released several albums under her own name, Harlem River marks the solo debut from the Kansas City-born Morby (the Babies, Woods), a bass player and guitarist who recently relocated from NYC. Though I had mixed feelings about the Babies' six-song debut, Cry Along with the Babies, I was quite taken with their first LP, Our House on the Hill (as I wrote about the EP, "Kevin Morby has a prickly relationship with pitch," but I noticed no such problem on the new song).
Near as I can tell, Morby hasn't abandoned his other gigs to do the solo thing full time, though not all bands can keep that whole bi-coastal thing going for long.
Woodsist releases Harlem River on Nov 26. Morby opens for Le Bon at Barboza on Dec 12. $13 adv, 21+
