Dead Boys With Divine and the Neon Women

Posted by on Fri, Jan 24, 2014 at 5:21 PM

Whoa! Here is a 1978 clip of the Dead Boys playing the New York Dolls' song "Looking For A Kiss" at a benefit for fellow Dead Boy Johnny Blitz. Blitz had been hospitalized after he'd gotten stabbed a LOT during a street fight and the benifit was to help cover his medical bills. Also on stage that night, go-go dancing, was Divine and the Neon Women. At the time the Neon Women were, along with Divine, were performing in a popular burlesque play, Neon Woman, at Manhattan disco the Hurrah Discotheque. Dead Boy singer Stiv Bators was dating one of the Neon Women and had convinced them to come be a part of the show. Oh yeah, tho' no nudity this might be considered NSFW...

It's a shit quality vid, but a nice slice of how closely tied all the thing happening THEN could be, the New York scene was a small town.
