(Columbia City Theater) Back in 2011, the local rapper Perry Porter and the French-based producer ICBM (the two have only met on the internet and not in the real world) dropped a solid LP called Paper Moon that deserved more attention than it received. It’s a catchy record but not blatantly or bumblingly aimed at the market. There is too much personality in the beats and the rhymes for it to immediately catch fire on the charts. Porter and ICBM would have to give up exactly what makes Paper Moon interesting if they want to draw the attention of corporate A&R types. To get a good and quick idea of their collaboration, check out the cookie of the album, “Man on the Moon.” With Spekulation, Julie C and more.
