This study seeks to illuminate and further the relatively unknown legal scholarship of Professor Paul Butler, in the area of Jury Nullification. My objectives are three fold. (1.) To explain in detail what jury Nullification is. (2.) Inform fellow citizens as to the history of Jury Nullification both Conceptual and Actual. (3.) Give clear succinct descrip- tions of a Citizens Rights, Duties and Protections with regards to effectuating change, through said Jury Nullifica- tion. I believe that once citizens are enlightened as to the extent of their individual power. In his absence, campaign spokesman Aaron Pickus reacts to the latest results, which put McGinn 2,400 votes in the lead. "It’s a big jump, and we feel pretty good," Pickus says. "But there are a lot of ballots yet to be counted and the race isn’t over."

So... are you gonna win? "Obviously, what we are seeing the right now is the same trend as primary, where voters favored Mike. Right now we feel very good."

More details on the shooting in Tukwila this afternoon:

The P.I. is reporting that the man shot in Tukwila this afternoon is in fact a suspect in the Halloween killing of Officer Brenton—the suspect is in critical condition at Harborview after being shot in the head, according to the Seattle Times.

The suspect is 41-year-old UW student Christopher J. Monfort. He's been studying criminal justice, of all things.

Police received a tip about the car they were looking for and waited for Munfort to approach it.

Three detectives confronted Monfort at the apartment complex later Friday afternoon. He turned and ran, then pulled out a handgun and pointed it at police, King County Sheriff's Office Sgt. John Urquhart said.

"For some reason, it did not go off," Urquhart said. "I don't know if he tried to fire it."

Monfort allegedly then ran a short distance again, and had another confrontation before he was shot at least twice, police said.

Investigators did not say how many officers were involved or how many shots were involved.

That's outside the recount threshold and "Mallahan would now have to get about 54 percent of the remaining votes — a level he has never achieved in any of the vote counts," says the Seattle Times. The Times also called Mallahan's spokesperson and asked when the city can expect Mallahan to drive his concession forward. Her response is pretty desperate/hilarious:

"It'll be tough to overcome," she acknowledged. But she said a win is "still in the realm of possibility" and that the campaign wants to evaluate "oustanding factors."

For example, she said, there may have been some Seattle ballots in a vandalized ballot box in Tukwila.

That suburb isn't home to many Seattle voters. And even if it every ballot in that box belonged to a Seattle voter—all dropped off by Seattle voters rushing to Sea-Tac on election day?—and every one was a vote for Mallahan, it's not going to be enough.

By comparing voter rolls to records of ballots received by the county, Mike McGinn's mayoral campaign found that uncounted votes include far more of the youngest demographic, which are McGinn's voters, than counted votes. In contrast, uncounted votes include about 50 percent fewer voters over 65 years old than the previous counted votes.

<img src="http://www.thestranger.com/images/blogimages/2009/11/06/1257552310-voter-chart11.6.09.jpg" alt="King County Elections has counted 137,025 ballots form Seattle voters and about has received an additional 55,000 ballots." title="King County Elections has counted 137,025 ballots form Seattle voters and about has received an additional 55,000 ballots.
In a recent SurveyUSA poll, you can see that McGinn's base is among voters 18 to 34. In contrast, Joe Mallahan's base is older voters, especially voters over 65 years old. In other words: Uncounted ballots appear to represent younger voters—who are more likely to be McGinn supporters—than the votes already counted. This could mean that the next batch of votes puts McGinn over the edge.

Late voters could also be McGinn voters if they read The Stranger.

According to Google Analytics, the Stranger's bill of endorsements—which give a hearty endorsement to McGinn—was viewed by 43,933 unique individuals. Of those, about 18,500 people viewed our endorsements in the last three days before the election. (That's not even counting cheat-sheet downloads from the home page or three issues of the paper around town that had our endorsement cheat sheet.) So those are late voters, they're mostly likely young voters, they are probably mostly McGinn voters, and they are voters whose ballots may not have been counted yet.

Seattle is estimated to have 213,841 total ballots when it's all said and done.

More and more, people use several Google products every day to do all kinds of routine things - email, chat, shopping, documents, kitten videos, RSS, Waving, on and on. It's easy to forget how much information you're handing off.

Well, Google is now providing a new service that lets you see what's happening on all of their other services. It's called Google Dashboard, and it summarizes all the stuff you're storing on Google's servers and gives you access to various settings.

It can be a little unnerving to see all this info laid out on one page, but the intention is good—Google is making it easy to find what they're storing about you, and easy to change your settings if it gets too creepy.

Participation is mandatory.

Jake Blumgart on why the aerospace giant is really ditching Washington workers:

As you've probably heard, last week Boeing infuriated local labor leaders and disappointed our state's politicians by deciding to open up a second 787 production line in South Carolina. While the company says this wasn't an anti-labor move and politicians like Governor Christine Gregoire have tried to spread the blame around so that no one's fully at fault, it's hard to read this as anything but a blatant power play by Boeing against the local machinists' union—whose members build the majority of the company's aircraft.

Relations between Boeing and the machinists have been acrimonious of late, with strikes accompanying four of the past seven contract negotiations. So the choice of Charleston over Everett can basically be interpreted as the new managerial line: Fuck you, machinists.

Read the whole thing, including Blumgart's demolition of the official Boeing company line, HERE.

Remember the rampant rumors at the end of September that world's best dive bar the Five Point was closing? Thanks be to drunk baby Jeebus, it's not true. But the OTHER rumor that a local club promoter was the new owner? True—it's Dave Meinert, who manages Blue Scholars, Common Market, etc., and produces the Capitol Hill Block Party. His soon-to-be-babymama/partner Mandy Park will be managing the place (she used to waitress there, and that's where she and Meinert met—awwww).

Will there be any changes? Nothing that's going to wreck the Five Point magic. Some of the duct-taped upholstery will be replaced, along with extra messed-up parts of the floor. Scrubbing has occurred. And a few updates to the food menu will happen on Monday: The coffee will now be Caffe Vita; liver and onions is back from yesteryear; and a couple more options for vegetarians will be added (including the Green Cat curry tofu scramble, with the recipe provided by the owner of the beloved bygone Green Cat Cafe).

It's good news for everybody who loves the Five Point. Cheers!

Bridging hiphop and the symphony is no small feat- in fact, it's a fucking recipe for disaster in the wrong hands- but I think this cast of characters is up to the task. Says Messina:

Symphony of the Superhero explores our cultures fascination with superheroes. Comic book fans will love this look at their favorites and how they've played into our society.

This is my 12th symphony as a composer and I still don't know how to read music. I write symphony for our generation. These are not typical symphonies. These are crazy, big, hairy, fun events where we enchant the audience. We will have over 280 performers on stage. A full orchestra, 4 choirs, drummers, a DJ, and a few tricks up our sleeves.

Our solo violinist, Lili Haydn, hails from LA and has played with, for Sting, Paige & Plant (Zeppelin), Parliament Funkadelic, Herbie Hancock, and so many others. She is currently writing and performing for the next Pirates of the Carribean film score (Hans Zimmer). She's a unique talent in that she plays violin and sings at the same time...in a really beautiful, yet haunting way.

THIS IS NOT A TYPICAL SYMPHONY. This is a crazy, big, hairy, fun concert written by a composer who isn't classically trained and doesn't even read music (yet, but probably will someday). This is something you have to see to believe.

On one side of Ekateryna Rak, the star of the movie, the soaring statue; on the other side, the modernist apartment building. All around, the snow. Moments before this moment, snow, modernist towers, and massive industrial complexes in the distance. The Soviet world is still here, still as real as concrete. But these modernist towers now contain internet companies that provide the capitalist world with porn. Under the Soviets, this industrial wasteland exported jet planes; under the global capitalist order, it exports images of women masturbating. The only way out of this trap (militarism; exploitation)? Immigration—the leading theme of 21st century European cinema.

I’m a young woman in a committed relationship with my longtime boyfriend, a handsome and VERY well-endowed man. His penis is more than satisfying, but it’s never gotten me off. I only climax when he performs oral on me. I feel guilty because when we make love, I wait for him to finish (and some times even encourage him to cum faster) so he can go down on me and I can climax, too. I can’t cum first because after I do, I don’t like to be touched and then we can’t have intercourse. Any suggestions? I feel guilty for being impatient when he’s doing his thing.

Prefer Oral Over Penis

My answer after the jump...

Confidential to drunk-guy-determined-to-start-a-mosh-pit: Just like it's cowardly to shoot somebody in the back, you really shouldn't give a running clothesline to someone who's not even looking at you. Someone who's watching the stage, not the crowd, or your singular attempts to start "a pit". No one wanted to play with you. No one. I had no idea you were even back there. And then you hit me so hard you almost knocked the wind out of me. Hit me with so much force into the stage I thought for a minute you broke my crotch bone, er, my pelvic bone. You should see the bruise I have today. Yep, a big ole crotch bruise. Thanks buddy. Thanks a big bunch...

160th & Aurora: Shay’s Restaurant and Lounge. Monsoon falls from the sky. Noon time karaoke stays dry. All day breakfast here. A man and woman in their sixties are screaming AC/DC’s “Girls Got Rhythm”. They’re chain smokers and hate the rain.
The man is into it, but stumbles. They trade verses. She’s got Kool Menthol, egg-beer breath and hits the notes better than he does. She’s sloven, huge, and fresh with $100 in winnings from Goldie’s Casino up the street playing blackjack.

“She really satisfies me / Love me till I'm legless / Aching and sore / Enough to stop a freight train / Or start the Third World War.”
