I was not disappointed by Daniel Johnston's set. I do not get what his wardrobe has to do with his performance. He was certainly shaky at times, but when he was firing on all cylinders his infectious melodies destroyed me with awesomeness. But I like his music in general.

@1: So What to all of that. Performers are there to perform, and when they can't hack it anymore, they should get off the stage. Yeah I'm harsh; deal with it, brah.

One other thing: After reading some more about Mr. Johnston (trying to find out why he's so revered by some), I realize that I was probably wrong in assuming that he has Parkinson's Disease. His tremor is most likely due to tardive dyskinesia, a movement disorder that's a common side effect of treatment with certain strong psychiatric medications. I do feel sorry for him but that doesn't change my opinion of his performance.

POBPAH is the most exciting new band in ages. Even if they kind of sound like pre-tremelo-bar MBV -- that's a GOOD thing. The album (on Slumberland, always a good sign) is every bit as good as the singles promise.

It's hard to believe they're not Swedish....

@rk: Yeah dude! Like, why was he even on stage? It's not like he has a debilitating mental disorder, and now a physical one, and playing music is the only thing that's keeping him from jumping off a bridge, right? TOTAL BURN on Johnston, brah! Congrats!
