I'm really suprised that the best the bookers at Neumos could come up with was Akimbo and Police Teeth as openers for this show. really? REALLY? Fucked Up is pretty huge right now, it's not like they needed help drawing more people to the show. I dunno, wouldn't this be a good opportunity to book some lesser known bands that perhaps haven't played a big show like this before and possibly help them get some recognition? didn't Akimbo headline the fucking Crocodile opening party three weeks ago? wasn't that enough of their continuing 10 year onslot of mediocrity for one month?

oh-and dont kid yourself about the "readers that are more familiar with vampire weekend" comment. these two bands enjoy the exact same undeserved celebrity purely as a result of a handful of praises from garbage merchants like pitchfork.

I'll say this, though: At first, reading/listening to people who consume a steady diet of Animal Collective/Vampire Weekend/etc. etc. try to explain that Fucked Up isn't a hardcore band, really, was kind of entertaining. Pitchfork's attempt to repackage this band was a decent one.

But now it's just getting annoying. Let them be a hardcore band, jesus fucking christ. Fucked Up does not need an army of people who say "Well sure they cover Black Flag and shit but there's so much guitar, this band is like an angry Husker Du!" to boost their sales or create a new image for them that will be more palatable to the TV on the Radio crowd.

And Pixies? Fucking come on.
